September Morning at
Sommarbro Stable – Offspring 2025

In September 2025, I was invited to stay at the beautiful Sommarbro stable to photograph that year’s offspring. The scenery at this old farm is incredibly picturesque, and from the moment I arrived, I felt a deep sense of calm. The way the horses are kept and handled, the quiet rhythm of the farm, and the different herds all contribute to a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
I stayed for one night, and after the owner showed me around the farm, I began my first photo session that same afternoon with the mares and foals. Later, I spent time with a group of young mares. Among them was a striking black mare who lives with the group, guiding and protecting the younger horses. She was the first to notice me, curious and incredibly warm in character. I followed the herd for a while before returning for dinner, where I enjoyed excellent food and lovely company at the farm.
The next morning, I woke early to catch the first light with the mares and foals. It was a truly special experience, watching them wake, graze, and seeing the foals play in the soft morning sunlight.
After breakfast, although my main focus was to document the foals’ day, I also visited two young stallions and took a few photographs there. The energy was noticeably different more playful, more intense, quite a contrast to the calm of the mare herd.
By then, the light had already become too strong for the kind of images I was hoping to capture, so I decided to call it a day. But who knows, maybe I’m allowed to come back to this beautiful place and horses.
